This evening I sat down to watch TV after dinner and flipping through the channels I caught the last 30 minutes of a documentary called "Who Killed the Electric Car?". It was most interesting and most disturbing. I learned things that I didn't know, and made me wonder how much most of us really know. I highly recommend this documentary, I believe it's available on DVD as well.
I am quite the cynic when it comes to policy in our government. I have lost faith in the decisions made by those that we the people have elected. It's very disturbing to learn that our planet is being ravished of its natural resources and beauty, while a great deal could have been done to prevent or slow down the process decades ago. Yet those in positions of power have the means to dampen any efforts.
What are we going to do about it? Well that's the burning question and there is no easy or simple answer. I believe that a change in consciousness and attitude is a good start. Perhaps we cannot change how the big machine of government and power works but we can all certainly start making a small difference within ourselves and close ones.
This blog is my way of helping myself to become motivated to make whatever change , in order to contribute something, however small to our planet and to everyone in it.
This blogs intent is to share with others a common thread, beyond borders or race or beliefs.

A First Post
This is my very first post, the purpose and intent of this blog is merely to raise awareness and consciousness about environmental issues. Like most of us, I am surrounded by information and what to do's and how to do's. The truth of the matter is that the majority of us seldom take a definite and committed position on a host of things that either are affecting us now or that will affect us in the future. I welcome and invite anyone and everyone to share in this blog their views and their opinions on the state of our environment and our planet in general as seen and perceived by the individual.
It is not my intention to fill these pages with links to information that we can all access very easily at the click of a mouse. Information is out there, it always has been and there continues to be more of it everyday. What we all do with that information is what makes a difference. Let's forget for a moment that we inhabit a certain city or a certain state or a certain country, let's step back and see ourselves as inhabitants of an entire planet. What we all do in our cities and states and countries has a very real and direct effect on the entire planet. The technology and ability to save our planet is already available, and has been for longer than many will care to admit. It is time to build new and more effective rails for this runaway train that we are all on.
Thank you for reading, it is my commitment to at least keep this blog going so we can all have something to think about constantly and slowly become aware in our hearts. Mother nature gave us her fruits with unconditional love, perhaps it's time that we are grown up enough to at least keep her alive.
